Structure

Each day has 3 problems, ordered from easier to harder (6 problems total).

Content

The problems require no extra knowledge beyond standard high school math olympiads.

NENTO is designed to feel like a slightly easier version of the IMO. Based on MOHS estimates, the expected difficulty ranges are:

Problems Difficulty Range
Problems 1 & 4 0–5
Problems 2 & 5 5–15
Problems 3 & 6 20–35

The problems are written by the organizers, so there's no point trying to find them online 🙂

Who Can Participate?

NENTO is intended for high school students in the Nordic–Baltic region (Northern Europe).

Students from outside the region may participate as guests, if invited in advance.

If a student has a valid reason, they may be allowed to sit the contest a few days before or after the official dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

The problems will be sent to your email as a .pdf file at the hour you specified in the form. You will have 5 hours to solve the 3 problems and send their solutions to nento2026@gmail.com in .pdf or .img. We recommend using software like CamScanner to ease this process. Furthermore, the problems and the pages have to be numbered.

Students from outside the Nordic-Baltic region may participate as guests if invited in advance. Please contact us at nento2026@gmail.com to discuss your situation.

About Us

We're math olympiad contestants ourselves, and we love creating and solving number theory problems.

Skomantas Urbonas

Skomantas is a strong mathematician who has participated in both the IMO and MEMO. His favorite topics are number theory and geometry. He enjoys creating problems as much as solving them, and hopes to write an IMO problem one day.

Ahmed Benamara

Ahmed is a high school student with a passion for beautiful mathematics, especially number theory. He is a strong competitor in the Lithuanian Mathematical Olympiad scene and also enjoys problem creation. He hopes to one day both solve and author problems for the IMO.
